The new front page
The website has a new front page photo. The old photo had a misadjusted harness and the lighting was horrible. Tell me what you all think of the new picture!
Earth hour tonight

From 8 PM to 9 PM
tonight all the lights in the CDT (Central
Daylight TIme) timezone will hopefully go off, To
do this in our house we will shut off everything
that does not run on a battery, if it runs on a
battery we will unplug it from the charger and
run it on the battery. google.com has already turned
off their lights at 12:01 AM and they will
remain off until 11:59 PM tonight. So remember
everyone, turn off the lights at 8:00 PM and
use a battery!!! And 9 PM to 10 PM is
Gizmodo's Geeky Gadget Power Up Hour, in which
they want everyone to plug in every piece of
electronic equipment they have and power it
up.
Our new mini ramp
This morning we heard the doorbell ring and wondered who it was, to our surprise it was UPS with a large box. We after receiving the box remembered we ordered a mini ramp so I can get into semi-accessible buildings that have a stoop or single step up. We got the ramp from http://www.discountramps.com for a very low price. It is the 4 foot wheelchair ramp, found in the Wheelchair ramp specials area under center folding ramps.
EZ-LOCK installed in van
Say hello to Mr.
Brand new EZ-LOCK. This little baby now allows us
to drive safely anywhere in the world in our van
and not have to worry about safety in the event
of a crash. This will also allow me to ride in
the van in a slight tilt for my spinal
maintenance program that I have to maintain low
to no pain level. There are a good deal of photos
of the EZ-LOCK and it's systems on the gallery,
more will be added tomorrow when we go back in
the van for a real ride. It is made of thick
double hardened steel able to withstand vehicle
crashes involving a totaled vehicle. This thing
is truly an amazing little box. For some
testimonials and crash photos head over to
www.ezlock.net
The only thing was I had to be without my
powerchair from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM which was
practically all day, which resulted in me being
totally bedridden for the duration, thank god we
took the two plastic urinals with us from the
hospital!

Happy Easter
disabledplanet.net domain transfer complete
It is finally complete, after two weeks of waiting for FreeForums sluggish transfer agent to get me the domain transfer transaction ID and authorization code and then waiting for them to hit the final authorization switch after I authorized it on my end, it finally transferred. Now when you type www.disabledplanet.net it will take you directly to the new disabledplanet.net system running on phpBB3. This is the same forum as the one on the Forum link in the menu on the left. If the domain continues to point to a invalid page or the old forum please wait up to 48 hours before trying again, the domain just got set up today and for the changes to reflect in DNS across the world it can take up to 48 hours. Remember that there is always the totally failsafe access URL of http://disabledplanet.iguido.com which is not DNS routed.
Blog post formatting fixed
When I went to do my usual maintenance audit on the website and check that everything is working fine I came across some formatting errors specifically within the G-Tube home feeding pictures up post. They are now fixed.
Beans & Leaves in my powerchair
Yesterday we had a great time, for the first time I went somewhere other than a doctors office and somewhere without using the old manual wheelchair. For now we have a jimmy rig tie down solution that is not safe for occupied transport, so we have to take the time to transfer me in and out of the van's seat, which is pretty worthless too since I can't use the van's seatbelt due to the way it is designed it cuts into my neck and also the lap part falls right into my G-Tube site, lucky for us the windows in the back are deep tinted. Yesterday we went to Beans & Leaves and mom did one of her usual Saturday performances. Dad took a good deal of pictures and when we were in the van I nearly fell on the floor as I took the picture of the cool cloud arrangement out the window due to my poor lateral support and the lack of lateral support in the van.

News feed issue fixed

When I got my feed update e-mail I noticed there was something fishy, none of the entries were showing full data, everything was a summary due to the fact that I accidentally enabled the SummaryBurner in the FeedBurner system. This bug is now fixed and you should be receiving full articles in your emails.
G-Tube insertion and hospital stay
On friday February
29th we went to the hospital at 6:00 AM like the
pre-operative scheduling desk told us to the day
before. Upon arrival we had to wait about five
minutes before we were taken to admitting, the
only reason we had to wait for admitting was
because the surgeon Dr. Loeff was not going to be
releasing me same day due to my neurological
condition and immunodeficiency and due to my
scoliosis they would have to do the surgery open,
not endoscopically. After going through
admissions and getting ID bands we went into the
POCU (Pre-Operative Care Unit) where mom and dad
helped me get changed into hospital clothes and
then the nurse came in and took initial vitals
readings. After that the anesthesia team and
surgeon came in to do a final discussion on
everything. We explained to anesthesia that I
have breathing problems and take a long time to
come out of anesthesia. After that mom and dad
were given my surgical ID number that they could
track my surgical progress on special plasma
screens on tannoy just like at the airport.
Around 8:30 I was taken to the operating room and
they began with N2O (Nitrous Oxide) breathing as
I had instructed them to start this way before
insertion of the IV line with the induction agent
and anesthesia, after the IV line was placed and
the flow was started I was out after about a
minute. I woke up in the PACU (Post-Anesthesia
Care Unit) After about 30 minutes i was taken up
to my inpatient room. On Monday they began my
first tube feedings and over the next two days
they slowly increased the rate of infusion till I
hit 90 cc's per hour. on Wednesday afternoon they
called the same company Quality Medical Equipment
that I got my powerchair from. They ordered a
infusion pump and supplies for same day delivery.
We left the hospital at 3:00 PM and got home
quickly after stopping at the pharmacy. Around
7:00 PM they delivered the pump and helped us get
everything set up to start my first feeding at
home at 8:00 PM. Me and mom were pretty quick as
i could still do some of the work at the G-Tube
end. I will get the photos of the home infusion
equipment tomorrow.
